The Bluebird name began in Dorset
Bluebird Caravans was based at Parkstone in Poole, Dorset. Grace’s Guide, the reference work on British industrial history, records it becoming a private company in 1940 and, by 1961, producing sixteen models spanning everything from small trailers to large residential caravans. In 1963 the business merged with Alperson Products, which then took the name Caravans International. So the Bluebird badge has roots going back well over eighty years, and its early history is a south-coast story rather than a northern one.
B.K. Bluebird Limited was dissolved in 2023
The more recent company, B.K. Bluebird Limited, was incorporated on 8 December 1987 under company number 02203307, registered under the SIC code for the manufacture of caravans. Its registered office was Imperial House, 1251 Hedon Road, Hull — the same Hull address associated with Willerby’s holiday-home manufacturing. Companies House records the company as dissolved on 11 April 2023, with its last accounts made up to 29 September 2012.
In plain terms: there is no BK Bluebird manufacturer left to go back to. Nobody is producing new units under the badge, and there is no factory to source parts or warranty support from.
Correcting our own record
An earlier version of this page described BK Bluebird as headquartered in Bridgwater, Somerset. That was wrong, and we have corrected it.
